The unit applies to all levels of personnel involved in the sale, service, including promotional service and supply of alcohol in licensed premises. 

Those selling or serving alcohol may include food and beverage attendants; packaged liquor salespersons selling in person, over the phone or online; winery, brewery and distillery cellar door staff; delivery services and supplier sales representatives. 

The unit also applies to security staff who monitor customer behaviour and to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for responsible service of alcohol (RSA) management.

This nationally recognised unit of competency describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell, serve or supply alcohol

The unit covers the following areas;

➤ Follow the principles of responsible service of alcohol.

➤ Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.

➤ Assess alcohol affected customers and identify those to whom sale or service must be refused.

➤ Refuse to provide alcohol.

Responsible practices must be undertaken wherever alcohol is sold, served or supplied, including where alcohol samples are served during on-site product tastings. 

This unit therefore applies to any workplace where alcohol is sold, served or supplied, including all types of hospitality venues, packaged liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.

➤ No marks or grades are allocated for assessment tasks. The outcome of the task will be Satisfactory or Not Yet Satisfactory.

➤ In the event of a Not Yet Satisfactory result you will be given feedback and the opportunity to resubmit.

Each student will undertake a Pre-Enrolment Review or LLND short test before enrolling to help confirm the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills. 

Stage 1 Assessment - Knowledge - Multiple Choice & Free text

➤ Following each of the modules, you are required to complete a multiple-choice & short answer assessment.

➤ Each module assessment comprises of a combination of multiple-choice questions such as drag and drop, fill in the missing word. In addition, there are a number of short answer questions where you will be required to source, read and interpret information and answer in your own words.

➤ All questions must be answered correctly within each module in order to proceed.

➤ Once you have satisfactorily completed Assessment 1 – you will move onto Assessment Stage 2

Stage 2 Assessment – Skills Evidence

➤ You will be provided with a video scenario of a customer requesting the service of alcohol. 

** We provide you with a video roleplay, customer and licensed premises. You are required to video your response to the customers request

You can record your response to the scenario either through your training account or on your phone and upload it to your training account. 

FEEDBACK AND COMPLETION

➤ Please allow up to two (2) working days for feedback or marking of your assessment.

➤ You will be provided with 3 attempts for each assessment question, if you exceed 3 attempts you will be offered feedback. You will be required to review the learning again to reattempt the question.

➤ In the event of a Not Yet Satisfactory result your assessor will provide you with feedback. You are required to review the feedback and resubmit.

➤ Please note - Your work will only be assessed by a JTA assessor upon your submission of your video. Your video will not be used for any other purpose.

➤ Competency Conversation - if a trainer and assessor needs to clarify any aspect of your submission, they will contact you to discuss.

➤ A Statement of Attainment is issued once you have been deemed competent in the unit.

LANGUAGE, LITERACY, NUMERACY & DIGITAL (LLND) REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS COURSE.

The term 'language, literacy, numeracy, and digital' (LLND) refers to core skills, learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy. These core skills are required by an individual completing this unit.

Training providers are responsible for ensuring that learners have the necessary Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) competencies for their chosen training program. This involves using assessment tools to evaluate a learner's LLND skills before enrolling them in a course. This helps ensure that learners have the appropriate level of LLND skills needed to succeed in the course, leading to better outcomes and increased confidence.

Job Trainer Australia takes this responsibility seriously and requires all potential learners to complete a short 6-question LLND assessment prior to course enrolment, to help ensure their success in the training course. 

This short assessment is not counted towards the final result, but learners are required to obtain at least 4 out of the 6 questions correct. Any identified skill gaps will prompt Job Trainer Australia to call the learner to discuss further.

By completing this short assessment, learners can be confident that they have the necessary LLND skills to succeed in their chosen course.

To complete this course, you must be able to:

Reading Skills:

Ability to read complex information such as general, regulatory and advisory information issued by local, or state and territory liquor licensing authorities, in-house policies and procedures, and specific provisions of relevant state or territory licensing requirements.

Ability to read a range of identification (ID) and proof of age documents, signage, and warning signs and wording within in-house policies and procedures.

Oral Communication:

Ability to provide information on responsible service of alcohol laws in a way that is easily understandable for customers.

Ability to speak firmly and clearly with intoxicated customers in a manner that de-escalates conflict.

Numeracy Skills:

Ability to calculate volume and number of standard drinks or samples.

Ability to determine a customer's age from date of birth on ID and proof of age documents.

Teamwork Sills:

Ability to share customer information with team members to ensure proper responsible service of alcohol practices within the organisation.

Self-Management:

Ability to deal with hostile or uncooperative customers in a professional manner and in line with organisational procedures.

It is important to ensure that you meet these LLND requirements before enrolling into a course to ensure that you can successfully complete the course requirements.

The amount of training that is provided is described in an amount of time that we anticipate you will reasonably need to undertake this unit.
